The case against Mehdi Hashemi, the son of Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani, is still being cleared of a number of deficiencies, says Judge Nasser Seraj.
The Mehr News Agency reports that according to Judge Seraj, once the case is prepared it will be sent to court. He maintained that more time is needed to complete the investigation.
The first trial for Mehdi Hashemi was to take place on May 5 but the proceedings were postponed after the defendant moved for an adjournment.
Mehdi Hashemi returned to Iran after a three-year absence that followed the controversial election of 2009. He was arrested on charges of fomenting the election protests and released on bail after four months.
The family of Hashemi Rafsanjani was targeted with repeated attacks after the moderate cleric supported those who challenged the 2009 election.
