The Ministry of Information and Fars province’s information security systems recently has build a security section known as “Ebrat” in Shiraz’s AdelAbad prison which is more like a prison cell than a ward(!) in order to transfer the prisoners of conscience after being interrogated and charged in detention center of Shiraz intelligence known as No.100 to this security ward where is under tight security.
According to Majzooban Noor, Ebrat security ward is a new ward and is a small room just about 35 meters more like a prison cell than a ward! In addition, the detainees have no access to fresh air nor is there a proper ventilation and only 2 times a week, they can get some fresh air from other wards facilities. At least 400 prisoners are serving their prison terms in other wards of AdelAbad prison with 15 separate rooms but in the Ebrat ward, there are only 11 prisoners of conscience. A toilet and bathroom facility has been installed inside so that there’s little reason for the prisoners to leave the cell.
In this small and inadequate space that is even insufficient for prisoners, a guy named assistant jail (!) spends all the days with these prisoners of conscience. Prisoners have to make phone calls in a limited time in the presence of security forces with the possibility of eavesdroppers. This ward has a great distance to the other wards and also to the main prison building, but (!) there is no distance between their cell-room and the place where special security guards and security prison agents were stationed.
The visits take place strictly from 12 pm to 1 pm on Sundays by inspection, checking out their profiles and getting valid visiting order. Although all these things always is done by a simple soldier in other section visits. The prisoners’ families have followed up on these matters. They ask Iranian authorities why their loved ones still do not have basic human rights and their legal rights are violated this much.
The prisoners of conscience at Ebrat ward of Shiraz’s AdelAbad Prison are as follows:
