Iran’s justice minister says his ministry has not formed any committees to end the house arrest of MirHosein Mousavi, Zahra Rahnavard and Mehdi Karroubi, the three opposition leaders who have been under house arrest for over two years.

ILNA reports that Mostafa Pour Mohammadi announced at the latest cabinet meeting that talk about a committee to release the three opposition leaders is not true and the ministry is not going to get involved in that matter.

He also claimed that the recent statements about intelligence ministry officials attacking the daughters of Mousavi and Rahnavard during a visit with their parents is a product of “media sensationalism.”

Narges and Zahra Mousavi announced that during their last visit with their parents, who have been under house arrest since February of 2011, an intelligence ministry official assaulted them when they were about to leave. The Ministry of Intelligence has responded to the allegations, saying it was actually the Mousavi sisters who attacked the official.

There has been much speculation whether the Hassan Rohani administration will be able to negotiate the release of the three opposition leaders with the ultra-conservative elements in the Islamic Republic establishment.
