Khatereh Danesh Tavakol and Melina Bakhtiarnejad, student activists from Tehran University and Azad University were arrested last week.

On August 11, 2011, Kahtereh Danesh Tavakol, a student at Azad University was arrested after being summoned by the Intelligence Ministry. On the day of her arrest she made a short contact with her family and let them know of her temporary detention.

Committee of Human Rights Reporters has reported that on August 13, 2011 security agents raided the home of Melina Bakhtiarnejad’s father. This Tehran University student activist was arrested after the house was inspected. Her computer, books, and personal belongings were confiscated and taken with her to an undisclosed location.

Security agents said the reason for Melina’s arrest was publication and distribution of videos and pamphlets about soft revolutions, and also for being associated with some foreign activists.
