Nine imprisoned lawyers and Dervish rights activists at Evin prison and Shiraz’s Adel-Abad prison wrote an open letter to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on the eve of the third day of Esfand, the 5th anniversary of solidarity between Dervishes.
In the letter, the jailed Dervish rights activists, Messrs. Hamid-Reza Moradi Sarvestani, Mostafa Daneshjou, Farshid Yadollahi, Amir Eslami, Afshin Karampour, Omid Behroozi, Reza Entesari, Mostafa Abdi and Kasra Nouri have pointed to President Hassan Rouhani’s request regarding comments from Scientific Community on nuclear negotiations and civil rights and submit a proposal to him « As Iranian chief executive and guardian of the constitution, in order to protect all people’s rights, through a general’s call, ask law graduates, the lawyers, elites and intellectuals for review of performance of Iran’s Judicial System.»
Then they also demanded that
« Political prisoners, should be tried again by a court in compliance with all the formalities and the basic principles of a fair and public hearing because the lack of independence and being influence of some judges in the judicial system and also prisoners’s claims of innocence must be clear to everyone.»
The imprisoned Dervish lawyers have also pointed to the issue of house arrest and what people have seen and heard about being under siege and arrest is the apparent arrest such as house arrest of Mr. Karroubi, Mr. Mousavi and Ms. Zahra Rahnavard. But there is hidden arrest which has been imposed on respected Sufi Grand Masters of the Order for many years. Although, remaining under house arrest for years without charges or trial is absolutely an apparent injustice but the most heinous is that the matter be kept secret by security tricks and threat of force.
They also pointed to the long oppressions on the Sufis and demanded the ending the dominant trends of Judicial System in dealing with Dervishes and religious minorities, ending their news boycott, eliminate the social ostracism and ending hidden arrest of the grand Qutb of Gonabadi Dervishes and other Sufi masters, purging the judicial courts from penetration power of the bands, ending desecration of sufi worship-places, ending adverse and negative publicity against Mysticism in the media and cyberspace.
