An opposition website reports that the medical condition of opposition leaders MirHosein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard, who have been under house arrest since February 2011, is cause for grave concern.

Kaleme reports that: “Guards do not follow up on the matters concerning Mousavi and Rahnavard’s health.”

The report adds that doctors have said that Mousavi needs constant care due to his heart condition, but the authorities pay no attention to this.

According to the report, MirHosein Mousavi has been suffering from fluctuating blood pressure as well as kidney and heart problems.

Zahra Rahnavard has lost more than 14 kilograms in recent months, according to her daughter, who is amongst the few people allowed to visit them on rare occasions.

Despite hopes that the opposition leaders would be released with the election of the new government last August, hardliners have shown severe resistance.
