Nargess Mousavi, the daughter of Iranian opposition leader MirHosein Mousavi, has expressed grave concern regarding the health of her father and the development of health complications that, according to her, were not present prior to the leader’s arrest.
Nargess Mousavi reports on her Facebook page: “The physical condition of my father and mother prior to their house arrest was very good. Since February of 2011 when their unannounced and unwarranted house arrest began, we have been witness to their rapid and unusual weight loss in less than three months and then the gradual emergence of symptoms of other health problems.”
Nargess Mousavi stresses that her parents were both in an excellent state of health prior to their house arrest.
She reports that her father has gone through two angiographies and on both occasions he was not allowed to remain in hospital as long as the doctors had recommended.
She adds that the latest treatment was given to him without any family members present, which has made the family very concerned about his health.
Mousavi and his wife, Zahra Rahnavard, have been under house arrest without any formal charges being brought against them. The authorities claim that their role in inciting the election protests of 2009 amounts to sedition.
