Mir Hossein Mousavi, the Iranian opposition leader under house arrest, has been allowed a visit from his brother, MirMahmoud Mousavi, for the first time in two years.

Kaleme reports that MirMahmoud Mousavi “had been barred from visits after he reported in the media about the restrictions on the situation of MirHosein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard.”

The reports adds that similar to other family visits, this visit was held in the building next to Mousavi’s home in the presence of security officers.

Mousavi and Rahnavard are reported to be in “better” health and spirits but there is reportedly “no evidence of any relief” from the strict conditions of their house arrest.

MirHosein Mousavi has been under house arrest since February of 2011 for challenging the legitimacy of the 2009 presidential election and triggering widespread street protests. The new administration’s efforts to end their house arrest have so far been unsuccessful, as conservative factions claim Mousavi’s actions were seditious.
