Responses to Human Rights Abuses in Iran
1. On Friday 13th June 2014, The United Nation Human Rights Council meeting was held in Geneva, focusing mainly on the two issues of “Freedom of speech, association and assembly” and “Evaluation of the death penalties in Iran.”
2. Around 50 relatives of the four prisoners who are sentenced to death, gathered in front of the Gezel-Hesaar Prison and called for the transfer of the four prisoners back to Rajaei Shahr Prison.
3. On Tuesday 17th June 2014, 80 Sunni prisoners from section 10 of Rajaei Shahr Prison in Karaj, started a hunger strike in support of Hamed Ahmadi, Kamaal Malaaei, Jamshid Dehghani and Jahaangir Dehghaani.
4. During the past week, civil and political figures in the presence of the families of the four Sunni prisoners made statements calling the execution of four Sunni prisoners to be stopped.
Women’s Rights
1. In the previous week, officials have prevented women from entering the 12 thousand seated Azadi Stadium to watch volleyball match between Iran and Brazil. It is worth mentioning that the International Volleyball Federation had given the presence of women in the hall during the competition as a condition for hosting the tournament in Iran.
2. Furthermore, on Sunday 15 June, defence attorney of “Saba Azar Peyk” a journalist of the Etemad newsepaper who was recently arrested, said “the branch 2 of the cultural and media court charged my client with propaganda against the regime”.
Workers and vulnerable citizen
1. A number of Iran Tire workers on Saturday 14 June, in protest against not receiving their wages, gathered in front of the Foundation of the Oppressed Organisation building in Tehran.
2. Furthermore last week, Behnam Ebrahim Zadeh, a jailed labour activist whom following the incidents of section 350 was first transferred to section 240 and then to section 209, is still kept in section 209 of the prison.
3. Rahim Bavi, the Islamic council president of the factory of “Aajor Jill” in Ahvaz has announced the closure of the factory and delays of 11 months payment of wages of more than 220 employees of this factory and said: the employer has not paid workers’ wages since March last year.
4. On Monday 16th June 2014, the workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company gathered in front of the Municipality Building of Tehran to protest against what the Central Cooperative Housing has been doing.
Sentences: death, flogging, amputation, imprisonment and detention
1. On Sunday 8th June 2014, the death sentences of three prisoners with the names of Davoud Setvan, Kourosh Roustayi and Mahmoud Ebrahimi, accused of drug trafficking were carried out in the central prison of Bandar Abbas
2.On Monday 16th June 2014, Hossein Nouraninejad, a Journalist and political activist who had recently returned to Iran was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment by Judge Salavati, the chief of the Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of “Propaganda against the regime” and “participating gatherings and conspiracy”
3. The West Azerbaijan province’s Appeals court has confirmed the 3 and half years imprisonment sentence of Jamal Mina Shiri and Hadi Tanoumand. The appeals court has also confirmed 2 years imprisonment for Ghasem Ebrahimpour, Ebrahim Mostafapour and Mohammad Karimi. The named labour activists had been initially tried in December 2013 by the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Mahabad city.
4. On Wednesday, 18th June 2014, the Prison guards of the Karaj Central Penitentiary inspected the hall 7 of the prison, destroyed the prisoners’ belongings and insulted them.
5. News suggests that, on Saturday 14th June 2014, four prisoners in Orumieh prison accused of murder were executed by hanging.
Followers of the rights of ethnic diversity – of conscience in Iran
1. According to the reports on Friday 13th June the families of Ali Chybeshat and Seyed Khaled Mossavi were informed by the intelligence officers that, the death sentence of the above named prisoners have been carried out. The two Khuzestani Arab inmates were accused of bombing the Chaghaz Nabil pipeline on 18th March last year, were transferred from Fajr prison in Dezful to an unknown location by intelligence forces and, subsequently, executed by the Branch 4 of the Revolutionary Court.
2. Following the announcement of the execution of Ali Chybeshat and Seyed khaled Mousavi to their family and the subsequent mourning of their relatives, the brother and son of Mr Chybeshat were detained by the Ministry of Information for a day and ordered not to hold any mourning ceremony for them.
3. Last week Hamed Ahmadi, Kamal Molaye, Jamshid Dehghani and Jahangir Dehghani, the four Sunni prisoners who were condemned to death were summoned to court on the following day. Their family are concerned about the execution of the sentence.
4. On Thursday 12th June, on the anniversary of the birthday of the twelfth Shia Imam, agitating and threatening statements were spread against the Baha’is in the city of Yazd.
5. On Saturday 31st May, Susan Tebyanian, a Baha’i from Samnan was arrested and is currently in the Central Prison away from other female prisoners and has been kept in suspense from any further decision.
6. Daniel Babayany, Habibollah Bygzadh and Nematulah Cami, 3 Sunni cyber activists were sentenced after being charged.
7. On Wednesday 18th June Arash Honarvar Shojaei, a critic cleric political prisoner in the Evin Prison was in a worrying physical condition.
Other human rights violations
1. Furthermore, there is no information about the status of Saeed Shirzad, an activist of children right who was detained 13 days ago in Tabriz.
2. Jaber Sakhravi, a prisoner with security issue charge, is in a critical condition after having two strokes in Karoon prison.
