Jailed journalist gets temporary release

Jailed Iranian journalist Bahman Ahmadi Amouyi got a temporary release from Rejai Shahr Prison on Saturday July 12.

The Kaleme website reports that Ahmadi Amouyi was arrested during the election protests of 2009 and sentenced to five years and four months in jail.

According to this report, Ahmadi Amouyi’s arrest was linked to articles he wrote that were critical of the government’s economic policies.

Many journalists were arrested in the aftermath of the controversial presidential election of 2009 and many more fled the country.
