Imprisoned Dervish Lawyers are still being held in ward 209 of Evin prison for the past three months.
Due to the conditions of being in long-term solitary confinement, including prohibition of getting some fresh air and lake of medical treatment their physical health condition have deteriorated.
According to Majzooban Noor, seven Gonabadi dervishes’s lawyers and Majzooban Noor’s managers (Messrs. Hamid Reza Moradi Sarvestani, Amir Eslami, Mostafa Daneshjou, Farshid Yadollahi, Afshin Karampour, Omid Behroozi and Reza Entesari) who have been put in the basement cells of the Section 209 of Evin prison under order from judge Salavati, just because of refusing to participate in the court which was considered as illegal hearing by them, have endured inhumane conditions of security Ward 209 despite their serious illnesses for more than 87 days.
Prohibition of medical treatments and not getting any fresh air at during this time, has caused severe physical problems for them so that all of these 7 Dervishes are now suffering from a severe skin disease and they are getting swelling in the whole body including their hands, feet, legs and face.
According to reports by the families of jailed Dervishes, who could visit them yesterday on 22 Farvardin 1392 (April 11 2013), they have deprived of their basic rights such as daily recess, telephone, correspondence and even the prison medical service. Their families said Majzooban Noor website that, Dervishes are under very harsh condition as their physical conditions have been seriously degenerating and after each visit, they appear more haggard and weak.
This horrific conditions which they have endured during this period, especially being kept in the basement cells of the Section 209 of Evin prison without getting fresh air led them to suffer from skin problems and despite their previous illnesses, did not have access to proper medical treatment.

The conditions in this such confined space that are extremely hazardous, cause severe physical and psychological stresses which can affect their health and “it is a silent crime.” Also the families of the Dervishes said about how to visit them in prison: “We are allowed only one short visit every two weeks but under tight security. They are blindfolded when taken to visiting room and with the constant presence of two or three agents in the cabin who watch over us during our visit.”
The jailed Dervish lawyers have been held in Evin prison, on a temporary detention order, from 19 months ago but since 13 January of this year they were again transferred back to solitary confinement in Evin Prison after they protested the proceedings against all jailed dervishes and the illegal actions of Judge Salavati. Previously in a letter signed by these jailed lawyers and Dervish rights activists, they requested investigation on violation of law by judge Salavati from disciplinary prosecutor court of Judges which has remained unanswered! The most common violations is that they have been in detention more than the serving a period of time which would equate to their sentence, so their continued detention is surely illegal and according to Article 575 of the Islamic Penal Code, the lack of commitment to the law by judge means that their trail judge, Salavati is not impartial and it will be consider as violation of the rights of the accused which is punishable.
Two other imprisoned Gonabadi Dervishes from Shiraz’s Adel Abad prison, Saleh Moradi and Kasra Nouri have been protesting with a hunger strike against the illegal transfer of their Dervish lawyers to solitary confinement since 87 days ago and require prison officials to transfer back their dervishes lawyers to the general ward of Evin and called attention to their poor health situation but despite their critical health condition because of their prolonged strike, unfortunately their simple demand has not been met yet.
