Hamid-Reza Moradi and Mostafa Daneshjou, Dervish rights activists and managers of Majzooban Noor website, who are being held in Evin prison nearly 2 years are reportedly in dire health conditions.
Hamid-Reza Moradi suffers from clogged arteries disease which is worrisome ( 70% Artery Blockage) and Mostafa Daneshjou
is suffering from severe respiratory disease and asthma and according to the coroner’s certificate he has lost a considerable (at about 40%) of his lung capacity, so they should be immediately transferred to specialized treatment centers.

Despite the doctor’s orders for follow-up medical care of jailed Dervishes in specialized institutions under medical management outside prison but authorities refuse to grant them a medical furlough and even from transfer to medical centers.
Since, under order from the judicial-security authorities, Dervishes are forced to wear the prison uniform, handcuffs and footcuffs outside of prison and they refused to do so, they were prevented from the necessary treatments for their condition and have been refused access to medical treatment.

Prior to this, as an illegal action, judge Salavati had stated that, transfer of imprisoned Dervishes in Ward 350 of Evin prison to the treatment centers is only permitted provided that the permit is issued by the Ministry of Information and should be in handcuffs, footcuffs and in prison uniform. Therefore they were banned from being sent to a hospital outside the prison.
Although according to the first paragraph of Article 235 of Executive Regulation of Prison Law, political prisoners and prisoners of conscience are exempt from wearing a prison uniform, using handcuffs and footcuffs.
