The head of Iran’s Court of Administrative Justice has called former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a “liar.”

Mohammad Jafar Montazeri was quoted on all major Iranian news agencies saying: “The former president would lie and openly violate laws.”

“When people see the highest executive position is violating laws, whom can they trust?” Montazeri said according to IRNA.

Montazeri referred to the appointment of Saeed Mortazavi, the main suspect in the case of detainee deaths at the Kahrizak detention centre, to the head of the Social Security Fund, saying: “This individual [Ahmadinejad] appointed a criminal suspect, and when the court told him that his appointment was null and void, he would not accept it.”

Noting that Turkish ministers accused of corruption have immediately tendered their resignations, Montazeri criticized the former Iranian administration for conversely insisting on defending a “corrupt person with conviction and insisting on keeping him in a top government position.”

Parliament recently released more reports of extensive corruption in the handling of the Social Security Fund under Saeed Mortazavi.
